This is a great project to make with kids! The bars are scented with sweet Blueberry Jam Fragrance Oil.

These soaps are a great project to make with kids! They're scented with Blueberry Jam Fragrance Oil, which is a sweet mix of orange, spice, rose, and almond.

First, a small layer of brown soap is poured into the Cupcake Silicone Mold to look like crust. White soap is layered on top and finished with embeds and a soap drizzle. The blueberries on top are created with the Small 9 Ball Silicone Mold. For this project, we used two molds to speed up the process. If you only have one, you can make the embeds in batches.

Because this project has layers, we recommend having a spray bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol nearby. Spraying alcohol between the layers helps the soap stick together. It’s also great for getting rid of bubbles right after pouring. A thermometer is also handy - the soap needs to be poured around 125-135° F so it doesn't melt the layer below.

Instructions

You will need:

  • 12 Bar Round Silicone Mold*
  • 2 Small 9 Ball Silicone Molds
  • 5 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base
  • 21 oz. White Melt and Pour Soap Base
  • 0.6 oz. Blueberry Jam Fragrance Oil
  • Caribbean Blue Color Block
  • Brown Oxide Color Block
  • Droppers
  • 99% Isopropyl Alcohol in a Spray Bottle
  • Optional: Thermometer

Follow these steps:

Cut 5 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour Soap into small, even pieces. Place them in a heat-safe container and melt in the microwave on 5 second bursts. Add shavings of the Caribbean Blue Color Block until the soap is a rich blueberry color.

Add 3 mL of Blueberry Jam Fragrance Oil and stir to fully incorporate. Pour the soap into the Small 9 Ball Silicone Molds and spritz with 99% isopropyl alcohol to pop any bubbles. You will have about 1.4 ounces of soap leftover to drizzle on top of each bar.

Let the embeds fully harden and cool. This will take about 30 minutes to 2 hours. When they’re ready, unmold by pushing on the back of each cavity. Note: This project was originally made with a Cupcake Silicone Mold, which was discontinued. The 12 Bar Round Silicone Mold creates a similar shape but will look different from the photos.

Chop 21 ounces of White Melt and Pour into small, even pieces. Add 3 ounces to a small heat-safe container and melt in the microwave on 5 second bursts. Add shavings of the Brown Oxide Color Block until you have a medium brown shade. Pour 0.5 ounces of soap into each cavity of the Round Silicone Cupcake Mold and spritz with alcohol to disperse any bubbles.

While the brown layer hardens, add the remaining 18 ounces of White Melt and Pour Soap to a large heat-safe container and melt in the microwave on 30 second bursts. Add 0.5 ounces of Blueberrry Jam Fragrance Oil and stir to fully incorporate. When the brown soap is hard and the white soap is 125-135° F, spritz the brown soap with alcohol and pour the white soap on top. Leave about 1/2" of space in each cavity. Let the white layer harden for 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Reheat the remaining white soap on 10 second bursts. Spritz the top of the soap and the blueberry embeds with alcohol. Place 3 embeds on top of each bar. When the white soap is 125-135° F, slowly and carefully pour it until the cavity is full. Spritz with alcohol to disperse any bubbles. Let the soap fully cool and harden, which will take about an hour.

Unmold the bars. Reheat the remaining blue soap on 5 second bursts. Spritz the top of the soap with alcohol and drizzle the blue soap on using a dropper. Then, spritz with alcohol again to pop any bubbles.

Let the top harden for about 30 minutes and then enjoy!
