These lotion bars get their cute shape from the Monstera Silicone Mold. The mixture of coconut oil, avocado butter, and aloe extract is great for dry skin.

These cute Monstera Leaf Lotion Bars are made with skin-loving ingredients like coconut oil, avocado butter, aloe extract, and beeswax. The combination of firm and soft ingredients keep them solid at room temperature, but they become soft and spreadable on contact with skin. They are especially great for dry patches like elbows and knees!

White Lily and Aloe Fragrance Oil adds notes of lily, violet, and bergamot. The touch of Kelly Green Mica provides a soft shade, but don't worry - it's not enough to transfer on the skin.

Because of the fine details of the Monstera Silicone Mold, take extra care when umolding. We recommend using your thumb to massage the back of each cavity to evenly release the airlock of the leaf details before pressing out of the mold. If you place the bars in the fridge or freezer to cool quickly, allow them to come to room temperature before unmolding. When extremely cold and brittle, they're more likely to tear coming out of the mold.

Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • Coconut Oil - 1 lb
  • Avocado Butter - 1 lb
  • Aloe Extract - 1 oz
  • White Lily and Aloe Fragrance Oil - 2 oz
  • Shamrock Green Mica - 1 oz
  • Premium White Beeswax - 1 lb
EQUIPMENT:
  • 4 Cavity Monstera Silicone Mold - 1 Mold

Instructions

You will need:

  • Monstera Silicone Mold
  • 3 oz. White Beeswax
  • 2.5 oz. Coconut Oil
  • 2 oz. Avocado Butter
  • 1.5 oz. Aloe Extract
  • 0.3 oz. White Lily and Aloe Fragrance Oil
  • 1/8 tsp. Shamrock Green Mica
  • Note: This project was originally made with Kelly Green Mica

Follow these steps:

1

In a heat-safe container, add 2.5 ounces of coconut oil, 3 ounces of white beeswax, 2 ounces of avocado butter, and 1.5 ounces of aloe extract. Melt in the microwave using 60 second bursts.

2

Add 0.3 ounces of White Lily and Aloe Fragrance Oil and stir thoroughly.

3

Add 1/8 teaspoon of Kelly Green Mica and stir until there are no clumps.

4

Pour the mixture into each mold cavity. Allow to cool completely for several hours or up to overnight - you can also place it in the fridge or freezer to cool quickly.

5

Carefully remove from the mold. First, pull away the sides of each cavity. Then, use your thumbs to gently press all areas of the mold to release the airlock and gently push out each bar. Enjoy! Tip: If you placed the mold in the fridge or freezer, we found it best to allow the bars to warm slightly at room temperature before removing from the mold. When extremely cold, the bars are more brittle and the leaf details are more likely to tear.
