CBD Body Balm Stick Project
This CBD Body Balm Stick is simple yet effective. It's a combination of white beeswax, mango butter, and CBD oil. The beeswax and mango butter ensure the balm hardens inside the tube, while the CBD oil provides softness. If you can't use CBD oil, we recommend replacing it with natural hemp seed oil.
Click here to learn more about using CBD oil in your bath and beauty products. For this project, we used a full spectrum CBD oil from Ology Essentials. Be sure when you're selecting your CBD for this project that it's an oil. If it's alcohol or water based, it won't mix in properly.
We used 2 ounces of the Oligies CBD oil, which contains 600 mg of CBD. The batch is split into 3 tubes, so each one has about 200 mg. You can add more or less CBD based on your preference. Keep in mind that changing the amount of liquid oil in the recipe will change the consistency. CBD oil can be pricey, so we recommend using natural hemp seed oil until you find the texture you like.
We made this recipe using our Twist Tubes. Because these balms are fairly firm, you can use an individual cavity mold. The project comes with labels made to fit the Twist Tubes - we recommend printing them on Waterproof Labels. The template includes labels for balms made with CBD and natural hemp seed oil.
What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil - 1.75 oz
- Mango Butter - 1 lb
- Premium White Beeswax - 1 lb
EQUIPMENT:
- Twist Tube - Black, 10 Tubes
Instructions
You will need:
- 3 Twist Tubes
- 2 oz. CBD Oil (We used Ologies)
- 1 oz. Mango Butter
- 1 oz. Beeswax
- 3 mL Lavender Essential Oil
Follow these steps:
1
In a small heat-safe container, combine 1 ounce of white beeswax and 1 ounce of mango butter. Place in the microwave and melt using 30-60 second bursts.
2
When it's almost melted, carefully remove the container from the microwave and add 2 ounces of CBD in MCT tincture. The cool oil will cause the butter and beeswax to harden - stir to melt and break up the chunks. Place back in the microwave using 15 second bursts if necessary.
3
Add 3 mL of lavender 40/42 essential oil and mix in well.
4
Make sure the clear cap is on the tube and screw the top securely. Flip over, then pull off the base cap and pour in the mixture. Allow the product to fully set, then press the base cap in securely and enjoy.
