Espresso Martini Candle Project
This simple yet sophisticated Espresso Martini candle looks (and smells) like the real thing! It's scented with the new Espresso Martini Fragrance Oil, a modern twist on our classic Espresso Fragrance Oil.
We used a mix of yellow, orange, and charcoal dye flakes to achieve this rich brown shade and topped it off with a layer of uncolored coconut soy wax to resemble foam.
What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- Coconut Soy Wax - 5 lbs
- Espresso Martini Fragrance Oil - 2 oz
- Golden Yellow Candle Dye Flakes - 1 oz
- Melon Orange Candle Dye Flakes - 1 oz
- Charcoal Black Candle Dye Flakes - 1 oz
- Wick Stickers - 1 Sheet (10 Stickers)
EQUIPMENT:
- Clear Glass Diamond Candle Jar - 2 Jars
- Cd-20 Wicks - 10 wicks
Instructions
You will need:
- 2 Clear Diamond Glass Jar
- 20 oz. Coconut Soy Wax
- 1.6 oz. Espresso Martini Fragrance Oil
- 2 CD-20 Wicks
- 2 Wick Stickers
- Melon Orange Dye Flakes
- Golden Yellow Dye Flakes
- Charcoal Dye Flakes
Follow these steps:
1
Place a half-filled pot of water on the stove, bring it to a low simmer, and nest a pouring pitcher or other heat-safe container inside. Add 20 ounces of Coconut Soy Wax and and allow to melt.
2
Weigh out 1.2-1.6 ounces of Espresso Martini Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Once the wax reaches 185-190° F, remove it from the heat and slowly stir in the fragrance for 1-2 minutes to fully incorporate. Set aside until it cools to 150° F.
Secure the wicks to the bottom of each container using a wick sticker. Stabilize the wicks using popsicle sticks or clothespins.
3
Set aside approximately 2 ounces of Coconut Soy Wax for your “foam.” You’ll leave this wax uncolored.
4
To achieve a rich brown shade for the rest of your wax, add ⅛-1/4 teaspoon of Melon Orange Dye Flakes, ⅛-1/4 teaspoon of Golden Yellow Dye Flakes, and ⅛-1/4 teaspoon of Charcoal Dye Flakes. Stir thoroughly to melt all of the wax flakes fully. Swatch your wax color on a white cutting board or sheet of paper to ensure you get the perfect shade of warm brown for your candle. If you desire a deeper brown, add slowly (you can always add more but can’t take it out.)
5
Once you’re happy with the color, stir in your fragrance for 1-2 minutes to fully incorporate. Make sure to save some of the fragrance for your uncolored “white” foam for the top layer of the candle. Tip: Don’t add the white layer fragrance yet in case you need to heat that wax again in the microwave or the water bath.
6
Carefully pour your brown wax into the prepped jars. Once your brown layer has cooled for 30-60 minutes and has a thick ‘skin’ that will hold another layer of wax, reheat your remaining uncolored wax until it reaches 135F-150F degrees.
7
Ensure that the brown layer is hard enough to sustain a second layer, and pour your fragranced top white “foam” layer at 135 degrees.
Allow the candles to cool and cure for 48 hours before burning.
Trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting, and enjoy!
