Tranquility Candle Project
Relaxing Fragrance Oil is a soft and comforting blend of French lavender, pine, jasmine, vanilla and delicate musk. It smells amazing in candles, soap, and more. To complement the calming scent, the candles are colored with Powder Blue Candle Dye Flakes. Simply add a few flakes to your melted wax and stir until you get a shade you like.
For this project, we used a blend of Golden Wax 444 and 10% coconut wax. Coconut wax is an additive that creates a slower burn and softer texture. The Short Narrow Wooden Wick provides a soft flame with a comforting crackling sound.

What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 oz Country Glass Jar - 4 Jars
- Golden Wax 444 - 2 lbs
- Coconut Wax - 1 lb
- Relaxing Fragrance Oil - 1.75 oz
- Powder Blue Candle Dye Flakes - 1 oz
- Wick Stickers - 10 Sheets (100 Stickers)
EQUIPMENT:
- Short Narrow Wooden Wicks - 10 Wicks
Instructions
You will need:
- 4 4 oz. Clear Glass jar with Black Lid*
- 4 Short Narrow Wood Wicks
- 18 oz. Golden Wax 444
- 1.8 oz. Coconut Wax
- 1.6 oz. Relaxing Fragrance Oil
- Powder Blue Candle Dye Flakes
*Note: This project was originally made with Frosted Votives, which have been discontinued. They have been substituted with 4 oz. Clear Glass jar with Black Lids.
Follow these steps:
1
Place a half-filled pot of water on the stove, bring it to a low simmer, and put a pouring pitcher or other heat-safe container inside. Add 18 ounces of Golden Wax 444 and let it melt.
2
Add 2 generous pinches of Powder Blue Candle Dye Flakes and stir well. Tip: The melted wax looks much more saturated and lightens as it cools. Drip a small amount of wax onto a white surface like parchment paper to test the color.
3
Weigh out 1.6 ounces of Relaxing Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Once the wax reaches 185° F, remove it from the heat and slowly stir in the fragrance for 1-2 minutes to fully incorporate. Add 1.8 ounces of coconut wax and slowly stir until it's completely melted. Set aside until it cools to 160° F.
4
Place wick stickers or glue dots on the ends of metal clips of the wood wicks and adhere firmly to the center bottom of the votives. Insert wood wicks into the clips.
5
Once the wax is at 160° F, pour it slowly into the votives. Tip: Golden Wax 444 has a recommended pour temperature of about 135° F. We found pouring hotter decreased the chances of frosting when working with dye flakes.
6
Wait 12-24 hours to allow the candles to fully cool. Trim the wick to 1/4" above the wax if necessary. Allow the candles to cure for 3-5 days so the fragrance completely bonds with the wax. Burn your candle until it reaches a full melt pool for best results.
