Hyaluronic Acid Serum Project
Homemade skincare doesn't have to be complicated. This hydrating recipe is made with just four ingredients for skincare: hyaluronic acid, glycerin, DL-panthenol, and aloe vera liquid. The result is a lightweight serum that's suitable for all skin types. To use, apply 1-2 pumps to clean skin and follow with your favorite handmade moisturizer.
Unfamiliar with hyaluronic acid? It's a naturally-occurring molecule in your body that attracts moisture. In fact, it can hold up to 1,000x its weight in water! You can use hyaluronic acid on its own or add it to serums, moisturizers, etc. For serums, the recommended usage rate is 0.1%-3%. In our tests, more than 3% was extremely thick.
This recipe uses 0.5% hyaluronic acid. That creates a lightweight and non-sticky texture. It's easy to make, but it does require careful measuring and weighing. This recipe is written in both ounces and grams for that reason.

What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- Hyaluronic Acid - 0.2 oz
- Aloe Vera Liquid - 1 lb
- Glycerin - Liquid - 1 lb
- DL-Panthenol - 1 oz
EQUIPMENT:
- 1 oz Frosted Glass Bottle with White Treatment Pump - 4
Instructions
You will need:
- Four 1 oz. Frosted Bottles with Serum Pump
- 106 g. Aloe Vera Liquid (93.5%)
- 3.4 g. DL-Panthenol (3%)
- 3.4 g. Glycerin (3%)
- 0.6 g. Hyaluronic Acid (0.5%)
Follow these steps:
1
In a small container, mix 3.4 grams of glycerin and 0.6 grams of hyaluronic acid. Mix until fully incorporated. In a separate small container, mix 106 grams of aloe vera liquid and 3.4 grams DL-panthenol until fully incorporated and the DL-panthenol has dissolved.
2
Add the hyaluronic acid mixture to the aloe vera mixture. The mixture will thicken immediately,. Mix vigorously for 1-2 minutes with a small whisk to break that up. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes - the acid will continue to soak up the water - then whisk again for another 1-2 minutes. Repeat until there are no small clumps of hyaluronic acid. Using a funnel or droppers, carefully pour the mixture into pump bottles.
To use, apply 1-2 pumps onto clean, dry skin. Use morning and night. Do no wash off. Allow the mixture to thoroughly absorb into the skin and then apply moisturizer.
