Pink Peony Soap Project
The base of this recipe is made with a blend of hydrating ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, and sweet almond oil. The bars are scented with Pink Peony Fragrance Oil, which is a soft and modern blend of bergamot, honey, peony, and white musk.
The embeds are made with melt and pour. We recommend using the LCP White Soap Base - it contains less glycerin than regular melt and pour, so it's less likely to sweat or morph in cold process. Learn more in the Embedding Tips article.

Instructions
You will need:
- Embeds:
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 4 oz. LCP White Melt and Pour Soap Base
- Blush Color Block
- Base:
- 6 Cavity Silicone Square Mold
- 0.5 oz. Castor Oil (3%)
- 3 oz. Palm Oil (20%)
- 0.8 oz. Deodorized Cocoa Butter (5%)
- 3 oz. Coconut Oil (20%)
- 0.8 oz. Shea Butter (5%)
- 3.3 oz. Sunflower Oil (22%)
- 3.8 oz. Sweet Almond Oil (25%)
- 2 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye
- 4.6 oz. Distilled Water
- 1 oz. Pink Peony Fragrance Oil
- 2 tsp. Titanium Dioxide
- Bursting Beads
Follow these steps:
MAKE THE EMBEDS
1
Chop 4 ounces of LCP White Melt and Pour Soap into small, uniform pieces. Place them in a heat-safe container along with a small chunk of the Blush Color Block. Melt in the microwave using 10 second bursts.
2
Place the Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold in a tall container so it stands vertically. Carefully pour the soap in. Spray the top with 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of bubbles and allow to fully cool and harden for about 1 hour.
3
Unmold the embed and cut it into thin heart pieces. You only need 6-12, but feel free to cut more and save it for future projects.
MAKE THE BASE
COLORANT PREP: Disperse 2 teaspoons of titanium dioxide with 2 tablespoons of a lightweight liquid oil (like sweet almond or sunflower). Use a Mini Mixer to get rid of clumps. Set aside. Optional: To ensure the titanium dioxide blends smoothly into the soap batter, we recommend micronizing it before dispersing it in oil. Use a coffee grinder to break up any clumps of color and prevent streaks of white from showing in the final soap. We like to use a coffee grinder that has a removable stainless steel mixing area for easy cleaning.
FRAGRANCE PREP: Measure 1 ounce of Pink Peony Fragrance Oil into a small glass container.
SAFETY FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your space. Always make soap in a well-ventilated area.
1
Slowly and carefully add 2 ounces of lye to 4.6 ounces of distilled water and gently stir until the lye has fully dissolved and the liquid is clear. Set aside to cool. Optional: Add 1 teaspoon of sodium lactate to help the bars harden more quickly.
2
Melt and combine 0.5 ounces of castor oil, 0.8 ounces of deodorized cocoa butter, 3 ounces of coconut oil, 0.8 ounces of shea butter, 3.3 ounces of sunflower oil, 3.8 ounces of sweet almond oil, and 3 ounces of palm oil (remember to fully melt then mix your entire container of palm oil before portioning). Once the lye water and oils have cooled to 130° F or below (and are ideally within 10 degrees of each other), add the lye water to the oils and whisk together to combine. Use the stick blender to pulse until you reach a thin trace.
3
Add 1 ounce of Pink Peony Fragrance Oil to the soap and use a whisk to thoroughly incorporate. Note: The soap will turn quite yellow, but don't worry. That fragrance discoloration fades.
4
Add 2 tablespoons of dispersed titanium dioxide. Use the stick blender to pulse and also stir to thoroughly mix in the colorant. Continue to stick blend until you reach a medium trace.
5
Pour the soap into each mold cavity. Tap the mold on the counter to help even the soap and get rid of air bubbles.
6
Use a small spoon to create texture on top of each bar. There's no right or wrong way to do this, so have fun with it!
7
Press 1-2 heart embeds into each soap. Sprinkle the top with Bursting Beads.
8
Spritz with alcohol to prevent soda ash. Cover with a small box to gently insulate for 24 hours.
9
Allow the soap to harden in the mold for 1-2 days. Remove the bars and clean up around the edges if needed. Allow to cure for 4-6 weeks and enjoy!
