Rainbow Sherbet Soap Project
Inspired by the juicy notes of Rainbow Sherbet Fragrance Oil, this soap is bursting with colorful swirls.
Rainbow Sherbet Fragrance Oil is a crowd-pleasing scent, with notes of green apple, orange, and grapefruit. It behaves well in cold process, which is essential for the swirly design. The Swirl Recipe Quick Mix also helps ensure you have plenty of time to work.
The key is to not over stick blend the batter - use short bursts of 2-3 seconds, then stir with the stick blender off for 5-10 seconds. Repeat until barely emulsified, then split into 6 containers. The batter can be stick blended quickly later (if necessary), once the colors and fragrance have been fully incorporated.

Instructions
You will need:
- 5 lb. Mold with Sliding Bottom
- Silicone Liner for 5 lb. Wood Mold
- 54 oz. Swirl Quick Mix
- 7.7 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye
- 17.2 Distilled Water
- 3.5 oz. Rainbow Sherbet Fragrance Oil
- Super Pearly White Mica
- Hot Pink Mica
- Racing Stripe Orange Mica
- Yellow Mica
- Shamrock Green Mica
- Caribbean Blue Mica
- Queen's Purple Mica
COLORANT PREP: Add 1/4 teaspoon of undispersed Racing Stripe Orange, Yellow Mica, Shamrock Green Mica, and Caribbean Blue Mica into seperate soaping containers. Add 1/2 teaspoon Hot Pink Mica and Queen's Purple Mica into 2 seperate soaping continers.
FRAGRANCE PREP: In a glass fragrance oil-safe container, measure out 3.5 ounces of Rainbow Sherbet Fragrance Oil and set aside.
SAFETY FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your soaping space. Always soap in a well-ventilated area.
Follow these steps:

Slowly and carefully add 7.7 ounces of lye to 17.2 ounces of distilled water. Gently stir until the lye has fully dissolved. Set it aside to cool.
Optional: For a harder bar of soap that releases faster from the mold, add 3.5 teaspoons sodium lactate to the cooled lye water.

Place the Swirl Quick Mix into the microwave and heat until fully melted. Shake to combine the oils and pour 54 ounces into a large mixing bowl. Add 1 Tbs. of Super Pearly White Mica directly to the oils and stick blend until there are no clumps.
Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 90-110 degrees F (and are ideally within 10 degrees of each other), add the lye water to the oils and stick blend the mixture to a very thin trace - be careful to not over stick blend! We recommend pulsing 1-3 times, then using your stick blender to stir the mixture. Continue 2-3 times, until just emulsified.

Separate the batter evenly into the containers with the micas - each container will have about 400-500 mL of soap. Use a spatula or whisk to stir in the mica with the batter until there are no large clumps.
TIP: The large mixing bowl will be used again, so make sure it's scraped clean of as much soap batter as you can.

Add the Rainbow Sherbet Fragrance Oil to each container of soap evenly - it's okay to eyeball it. Going from lightest to darkest, quickly whisk in the fragrance oil.
If the soap is extremely thin, you can pulse each color for 1-2 seconds (very quickly!) to help disperse the colors and bring it to a light trace. The soap needs to be thin enough to pour and spread out in the mold evenly. You want the soap to be smooth and not hold any texture.

Begin pouring 1/3 of the pink soap into the large bowl, allowing it to run down the side. As you pour, count 1, 2, 3, to keep each pour consistent. Continue by pouring 1/3 of the orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple soap batter into the bowl. Repeat this process until all the soap has been layered into the large mixing bowl.

Once all of the soap is in the large bowl, begin to pour the soap into a corner of the mold. Pour slowly and count to 1,2,3, then bring the bowl up to start pouring, then start again. Continue until all the soap has been poured into the mold.

Tap the mold on the counter to help get rid of any bubbles. Spray with 99% isopropyl alcohol to prevent soda ash. We recommend insulating and gelling this soap to help the colors pop. To do so, place the mold on a heating pad set to low-medium for 1-2 hours.

Remove the soap from the mold after 1-3 days (depending if you used sodium lactate or not). Cut the soap into bars. Allow the soap to cure for 4-6 weeks and enjoy!
