Berry Heart Soap Project
This soap makes a great Valentine's Day gift. It's scented with Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil, which is a fruity yet sophisticated scent. The heart embeds are made with Color Blocks, which are highly-concentrated pieces of melt and pour soap. They mix in easily and create streak-free color in your bars.
Because this soap involves embeds and layers, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to make it. The embeds need about 3-4 hours to fully cool and harden. Then, you can create the base. We highly recommend having a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol on hand - it gets rid of bubbles and helps the layers stick together.
What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- SFIC Clear Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
- Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil - 2 oz
- Blush Color Block - 1 Block
- Blackberry Color Block - 1 Block
- SFIC White Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
EQUIPMENT:
- Large Heart Silicone Column Mold - 1 mold
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 99% Isopropyl Alcohol - 1 bottle (16 oz by volume)
- 10 inch Silicone Loaf Mold
Instructions
You will need:
- Large Heart Silicone Column Mold
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 32 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap
- 25 oz. White Melt and Pour Soap
- Blush Color Block
- Blackberry Color Block
- 0.8 oz. Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil
- 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
Follow these steps:
1
Chop 32 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into small, uniform pieces. Place them in a large heat-safe container. Melt in the microwave using 30-60 second bursts. Split off 4 ounces into a separate container and add shavings of the Blush Color Block. Stir until the color is melted and incorporated. Tip: If the Color Block is not melting, place the container back in the microwave and heat on 5 second bursts.
2
Place the Mini Heart Column Mold into a tall container to keep it upright. Pour the pink soap into the mold and set aside. To the remaining melted soap, add shavings of the Blackberry Color Block and stir until its fully incorporated.
3
Stir 0.5 ounces of Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil into the soap. Carefully pour the purple soap into the Large Heart Silicone Column Mold. Place the mold against a wall to help it stay upright. Allow to cool completely and don't move it - this will take about 3 hours.
4
Once both heart embeds have completely cooled, remove them from the molds. Clean up the embeds if necessary using a sharp knife or clean-up tool. Cut the embeds to fit into the 10” Silicone Loaf Mold lengthwise.
5
Chop 25 ounces of White Melt and Pour Soap Base into small, uniform pieces. Place them in a medium heat-safe container. Melt in the microwave using 30 second bursts. Stir 0.3 ounces of Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil into the soap.
6
Place the large purple heart into the 10” Silicone Loaf Mold, spritz with alcohol, and pour the melted white soap into the mold until the purple soap is just covered. Spritz with alcohol to get rid of bubbles. Allow to cool for about 5-10 minutes.
7
Once the soap in the mold has cooled slightly and formed a skin, reheat the white soap in the microwave using 5-10 second bursts. Spritz the soap in the mold with alcohol and pour the remaining white soap into the mold until almost completely full. Place the pink heart soap into the mold and spritz with alcohol to get rid of bubbles.
8
Allow the soap to fully cool and harden for 4-5 hours or up to overnight. Unmold and cut into bars. Enjoy!
