This Charcoal Melt and Pour Soap is formulated for oily facial skin. The combination of activated charcoal, tea tree essential oil, and tamanu oil leaves skin feeling clean and refreshed.

This soap is easy to make, and is great for beginners. First, the activated charcoal is mixed into the tamanu oil and tea tree essential oil. This breaks up any clumps, and makes the activated charcoal easier to incorporate into the Aloe Vera Melt And Pour Soap Base

Because this soap is meant to be used on the face, we used a very small amount of tea tree essential oil. If you prefer a stronger scent, you can add more if you like. In our tests, we found the amount of activated charcoal to be effective while not leaving a large amount of gray residue on wash cloths and sinks.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Activated Charcoal - 1 oz
  • SFIC Aloe Vera Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
  • Tamanu Oil - 1 oz
  • Tea Tree Essential Oil - 1.75 oz
EQUIPMENT:
  • 6 Cavity Silicone Circle Mold - 1 Mold
  • 99% Isopropyl Alcohol - 1 bottle (16 oz by volume)

Instructions

You will need:

  • 6 Cavity Round Silicone Mold
  • 22 oz. Aloe Vera Melt and Pour Soap Base
  • 1 Tbs. Tamanu Oil
  • 1 tsp. Activated Charcoal
  • 4 mL Tea Tree Essential Oil
  • 99% Isopropyl Alcohol in a Spray Bottle

Follow these steps:

1

In a small container, add 1 tablespoon of tamanu oil, 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal, and 4 mL of  tea tree essential oil. Carefully use a spoon to mix together. Set aside.

2

Chop 22 ounces of Aloe Melt and Pour Soap Base into small uniform pieces. Place them into a heat-safe container and melt in the microwave using 20-30 second bursts until fully melted.

3

Add the oil mixture to the melted soap. Use a spoon to thoroughly incorporate the oil mixture into the soap base.

4

Carefully pour the soap into each mold cavity. After each pour, spritz the top with 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of bubbles.

5

Allow the bars to fully cool and harden for several hours, up to overnight. Once they are completely firm, remove them from the mold and enjoy! If you live in a very humid area, wrap them in plastic wrap to avoid glycerin dew.
