Shamrock Soap Project
The first step is to create the clover embeds, using the Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold. Then, the embeds are placed on a layer of Buttermilk Melt and Pour Soap Base and covered with Clear Melt And Pour Soap Base. These bars are scented with Clover and Aloe Fragrance Oil, which adds a fresh scent with notes of green tea, rose, and moss.
This project requires a good understanding of layering melt and pour soap, and the importance of temperature. If you've never made melt and pour soap before, we recommend starting with a few beginner recipes.
What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- SFIC Buttermilk Melt and Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
- SFIC Clear Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
- Kermit Green Color Block - 1 Block
- Green Chrome Color Block - 1 Block
- Clover and Aloe Fragrance Oil - 1.75 oz
EQUIPMENT:
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 6 Cavity Silicone Circle Mold - 1 Mold
Instructions
You will need:
Embeds:
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 4 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap
- Green Chrome Color Block
- Kermit Green Color Block
Base:
- 6 Cavity Silicone Circle Mold
- 16 oz. Buttermilk Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 8 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 0.4 oz. Clover and Aloe Fragrance Oil
- 99% Isopropyl Alcohol in a Spray Bottle
Follow these steps:
1
Chop 4 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into small, uniform cubes. Place them in a heat-safe container and add a small chunk of the Kermit Green and Green Chrome Color Blocks. Melt in the microwave using 10-15 second bursts. Stir to fully incorporate the Color Blocks.
2
Pour the melted soap into the Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold. Set the mold aside and allow the soap to cool and harden for about 1 hour. Then, remove the embed from the mold and chop the hearts into small pieces, about one cm wide. You need 18 hearts total - 3 for each circle cavity.
3
Chop 16 ounces of Buttermilk Melt and Pour Soap into small uniform pieces. Place in a heat-safe container and melt using 20-30 second bursts. Once melted, add 0.4 ounces of Aloe and Clover Fragrance Oil and stir in thoroughly.
4
Pour the soap into each cavity about 3/4 of the way full. After each pour, spritz with 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of bubbles. Fill all six cavities and allow the soap to cool and harden for about 20 minutes.
5
Once the buttermilk soap has cooled slightly and has formed a thick enough layer to support the embeds, gently place three heart embeds on top, with the heart corners meeting in the middle.
6
Chop 8 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour soap into small uniform pieces. Melt in the microwave using 5-10 second bursts. Allow the soap to become fairly hot, around 140-150 degrees F. Let the soap sit in the container and allow the bubbles to rise to the top. Once the soap has cooled to about 130 degrees F, spritz the buttermilk soap with alcohol and gently pour the clear soap on top, covering the heart embeds. Spray immediately with alcohol to pop any bubbles that occur.
7
Allow the soap to fully cool and harden for at least 4 hours or up to overnight. Remove from the mold and enjoy!
