Strawberry Lemonade Soap Project
This adorable soap is perfect for spring and summer!
It's scented with Lemonade Stand Fragrance Oil, which is a fruity mixture of lemon, peach, pineapple, and vanilla. A touch of strawberry extract gives the bars extra skin-loving properties. Add something special to your projects with our botanical extracts.
The key to this project is time and patience. The Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold is used to make the strawberries with a combination of poppy seeds and Perfect Red Color Block. The stem is made by creating another heart and slicing off the curved portion.
When pouring the pink soap around the embeds, check the temperature to make sure it's no warmer than 130° F. If the soap is too hot, it can melt the embeds. Keep a spray bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol nearby! You'll use it frequently to get rid of bubbles and help the layers adhere.
What You Need:
Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- SFIC Clear Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
- SFIC White Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
- Lemonade Stand Fragrance Oil - 1.75 oz
- Poppy Seeds - 3 oz
- Perfect Red Color Block - 1 Block
- Strawberry Extract - 1 oz
- Green Chrome Color Block - 1 Block
- Electric Bubble Gum Color Block - 1 Block
EQUIPMENT:
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 4 inch Silicone Loaf Mold
- 99% Isopropyl Alcohol - 1 bottle (16 oz by volume)
Instructions
You will need:
- 4" Silicone Mold
- Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold
- 4 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap
- 29 oz. White Melt and Pour Soap
- 0.5 oz. Strawberry Extract
- 0.6 oz. Lemonade Stand Fragrance Oil
- Electric Bubble Gum Color Block
- Perfect Red Color Block
- Green Chrome Color Block
- Poppy Seeds
- 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
Follow these steps:
1
Chop 4 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into small, uniform pieces. Place in a small heat-safe container, along with a chunk of Perfect Red Color Block. Melt in the microwave using 10-15 second bursts. Stir until the color is fully incorporated. Add about 1/2 teaspoon of poppy seeds, or more depending on your preference. Wait for the soap to cool to about 120-125° F to suspend the poppy seeds.
2
Place the Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold into a tall container to keep it upright. Pour the red soap into the mold and allow it to fully cool - this will take about an hour. Remove from the mold and clean up the embed if necessary using a sharp knife or clean-up tool. Cut the embed into two pieces that fit into the 4" Silicone Mold. Set embeds aside.
3
Chop 29 ounces of White Melt and Pour Soap Base into small, uniform pieces. Place 4 ounces of the soap into a small heat-safe container, along with a chunk of Green Chrome Color Block. Melt in the microwave using 10-15 second bursts. Stir until the color is fully incorporated. Pour into the Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold and allow to cool. Remove and cut into two pieces, the same length as the red embeds. Cut off the top of the heart (the curved portion). Discard the top for another use - the triangle piece will become the strawberry leaf.
4
Place the remaining 25 ounces of chopped white soap into a large heat-safe container. Add a small chunk of Electric Bubble Gum Color Block and melt in the microwave using 30-60 second bursts. Once the soap has melted, mix in 0.5 ounces of strawberry extract and 0.6 ounces of Lemonade Stand Fragrance Oil.
5
Pour a small amount of the pink soap into the 4" Silicone Mold - about 3-4 ounces. Spritz with 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of bubbles. Set aside and allow to harden and cool for about 20-30 minutes.
6
Once the pink soap has cooled and hardened enough to support the first embed, insert one of the red embeds horizontally into the mold, slightly off-center. Spritz with alcohol to help adhere the layers. Pour pink soap into the mold until it almost reaches the top of the heart embed - do not fully cover the embed with soap. Spritz with alcohol again to remove bubbles and allow to cool. Set aside for about 20-30 minutes to allow to harden.
7
Gently reheat the pink soap in the microwave using 30 second bursts, if necessary. Place one of the green embeds on top of the strawberry and press down gently to help it stay while pouring. Then, insert the other red embed into the opposite side of the mold. Spray with alcohol and pour pink soap until it reaches the top of the second strawberry (do not cover the strawberry). Spritz with alcohol to get rid of bubbles and allow to cool.
8
Once the pink layer has cooled and hardened slightly, place the last green embed on top of the second strawberry. Spritz with alcohol and pour the remaining pink soap into the mold. Spray with alcohol to get rid of bubbles.
9
Allow the soap to cool for at least 3-4 hours, up to overnight. Unmold and cut into bars. Enjoy!
