The Best DIY Valentine's Day Gifts

One of the big themes in Valentine’s Day gifts is the idea of pampering someone. Whether that someone is your valentine, a galentine, or even a palentine, all of us know someone who doesn’t just deserve a little pampering, but who really wants to be pampered.

One of the great ways to give that kind of pampering is to put together a spa day gift basket! Sure, you could get a gift certificate to a local spa, but with the at-home experience nobody has to worry about scheduling a whole day (some of the folks who need pampering the most also are the busiest people we know) to take at a spa, and you can add a special little personal touch.

So here are 5 ideas for different kinds of spa day gift baskets to inspire you. We’re sure one is going to be perfect for that special Valentine in your life.

Girly DIY spa day basket

pink bath bombs

Do you have a valentine that loves girly things? Not all women love super girly things, but some sure do. Well, we have some great ideas for that.

When we talk about girly things, we’re talking about flowers and floral smells. We’re talking about sweet and floral scents. We’re talking about bright colors and pastels, like pink and purple. We’re talking about indulgence and beauty.

Bath bombs are indulgent, and bath truffles even more so. Bath truffles are like bath bombs, but enriched with luxurious, skin loving oils and butters. Our Buttermilk Bath Truffle Project is made with cocoa butter and mango butter, to make the bath water feel soft and silky. These bath truffles are scented with Freesia Bubble Bath Fragrance Oil and they have Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, which makes them not just fizz, but foam. They have jasmine and heather flowers, and are colored a soft lavender.

Our Rose Hyaluronic Jelly Face Mask Project is like a face treatment you’d get at a spa. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant and helps draw moisture into the skin. Green tea extract and calendula extract are both great for soothing your skin. The mask is subtly floral, scented with rose water, and colored a soft, shimmery pink.

After a relaxing bath, the surface of your skin is hydrated. That moisture can easily be lost to the air once the skin is dry. To prevent that, this wonderful body butter is a delight to smooth onto your skin. With jojoba oil, avocado butter, and cocoa butter to soothe and protect, and a lovely vanilla scent, our Vanilla Whipped Body Butter Project is a great addition.
Throw in an eye mask and a pink or purple washcloth or sponge, and your beautiful spa day basket is complete!

It’s scented with Frosted Fir Fragrance Oil, a mix of fresh fir trees, wild berries, and a hint of musk. It has a lovely wooden wick, which gives the soft crackling of a campfire in miniature.

This Sea Salt Body Polish Project brings the seaside to the bath or shower. Scented with After the Rain Fragrance Oil, it smells like petrichor and cedarwood, with a hint of light spring flowers. The French sea salt provides gentle exfoliation, and the squalene oil nourishes skin. Seaweed extract is soothing for any bug bites or little scrapes picked up on outdoor adventures.

Scented with tangerine essential oil and colored with turmeric, this Tangerine Lotion Bar Project is great for the outdoorsy person. Beeswax, mango butter, and coconut oil team up to protect skin, and the lotion bar is shaped like a cute citrus slice. Best of all, after spa day is over, you can pack it with you on the trail!

Putting your spa day basket together

Putting spa day baskets together for Valentine’s Day gifts is pretty easy. Get a cute basket or a nice box, and put a little packing material in the bottom. That packing material helps you present the items in the basket how you want. This material can be anything, really. Pink plastic easter grass, crinkled shreds of paper, bits of colored ribbon, even straw! Place your biggest item in the middle, and then fill in the spaces around it with smaller items, like bath bombs.
You can cover your basket with clear plastic, or just put a cute bow on the handle. For boxes, they’re pretty closed, tied with a ribbon or string, with a paper gift tag.

Giving a spa day gift basket as a Valentine’s Day gift is perfect, because it’s giving your valentine an excuse to stop and pamper themselves a little. It also gives the gift of an experience, which is a wonderful way to tell someone you care.
